A dermatologist is a doctor who specializes in diseases that affect your skin, hair, nails, glands, nervous system, blood vessels, and many internal systems. As a general rule, dermatologists have special training to see and treat these different areas of the body. They often work together with physicians who focus mainly on internal conditions called internists.

Skin Specialist

A skin specialist has specialized knowledge about how the surface of the human body responds to injury and disease. Because the skin is the largest organ and covers the majority of our body surface, it absorbs what happens to us and sends information to the brain about pain, temperature, pressure, chemicals, heat, humidity, light, moisture, toxins, radiation, infection, wounds, and many other things.

The skin can be affected by anything that happens internally or externally. It’s not unusual for people with all sorts of illnesses to develop rashes and sores or other conditions on their skin. That’s where a dermatologist comes into play.
