OSSIFYING FIBROMYXOID TUMOR OF SOFT PARTS, another case
This type of tumor has been discussed ELSEWHERE.
This subcutaneous tumor came from the back of the neck of a 70 year old male.
 
Composite scan power view of a tumor incompletely encased in a fibrous rind within which there is bone in several areas.  The calcified bone created rips in the tissue during microtomy.
A section of the bone that was made after the paraffin block was soaked in an acid solution to decalcify the bone. Tumor is seen below the bone.
A high power view showing a dominant pattern. Single cells and small clusters of cells are separated by relatively thin collagen fibers.
A high power view showing single cells and packets of cells separated by large bands of collagen that conform to the outlines of the cells or packets.
A high power view of a myxoid area containing oval cells.. This was a minor component in this particular tumor.
A high power view of a spindle cell component associated with myxoid stroma. Spindle cells comprised a very minor part of this particular tumor.
