LOBULAR CAPILLARY HEMANGIOMA, DEEP
Most, but not all, of the deep lobular hemangiomas that I see are from acral locations. These can be confused with glomus tumors.

The main discussion of lobular capillary hemangiomas is ELSEWHERE.

This firm, deep, nodule developed in the palm of an 18 year old female. It was not painful.

Composite scan power view. Lobules composed of vascular elements are restricted to the deep dermis and subcutis. A feeder vessel is seen in the deep aspect of the reticular dermis near the right side of the picture.
High power view of one of the vascular lobules. This is the same combination of endothelial cells and pericytes found in the superficial variant of lobular capillary hemangioma.
Medium power view of a feeder vessel seen in the deep reticular dermis near the right side of the scan power picture. There is subintimal hyperplasia of cells having mixed features of smooth muscle cells and pericytes.
